Shirley Houston, M.D. is a board certified physician of Internal Medicine with 20 years of experience. She is also a trained medical acupuncturist who blends mainstream medicine and alternative healing therapies. She is Medical Director of the Center for Integrative Medicine and Wellness in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Houston’s current practice focuses on individualized approaches to promote lifestyle changes and well-being.

Recognizing each individual’s unique balance of mind, body and spirit, she offers internal medicine, acupuncture, nutritional consultation, herbal medicine, vitamin therapy, traditional Chinese medicine, natural hormone therapy, assessment of spiritual values and wellness day retreats.

Dr. Houston is dedicated to helping her patients achieve the highest level of wellness. Dr. Houston is originally from South Carolina, completed her BS degree at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, and obtained her medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. She completed her internship and residency at an affiliate of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. Dr. Houston is a graduate of the prestigious Medical Acupuncture for Physicians Program at UCLA. She is a founding member of the North Carolina chapter of Medical Acupuncture.

rennickMillicent Rennick, RN received a BS degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a RN degree from Carolinas College of Health Sciences. She has worked as a medical/surgical nurse at both Carolinas Medical Center and Presbyterian Huntersville Hospital. Millicent is married to Dr. John H. Rennick, Jr. Medical Director of United Healthcare of the Carolinas. They have 3 daughters, Crystal, Lauren, and Lindsey. Millicent enjoys working in the healthcare profession because it gives her the opportunity to work with people to help them improve their health.
